Pre-birthday static

I am a capacitor. Charge is building up on my surfaces until one day the electrons will leap across in a sudden plasmatic burst. Meanwhile, I only perceive a slow trickle of charge on my skin.

I love power metaphors. Electricity. It excuses the lack of energy I experience on a daily basis to think of a slow semi-perceptible accumulation.

Gray morning. There's a party this afternoon. I'm going. I'm writing. I'm charging up.

I'm watching Shopgirl, and what a slow train wreck this is turning out to be. I'm beginning to dislike Steve Martin, as a writer. All his characters are jerks, and most of them aren't funny as such.

Claire Danes is lovely and talented and looks closer to 30 than 24.

But back to me. Tomorrow's my 40th birthday. If you multiply that by 5, that's my goal weight. Only 30 pounds to go! I hope. Surely I can do that if I starve myself and bike every freaking day and garden and walk all summer.

That's the first time I've articulated that goal, btw.

Cheers.

Sounds like a worthy and possible goal. Good luck with that, and happy birthday!
