God bless you, Mr. Vonnegut

One of my favorite mainstream writers has shuffled off the mortal coil.

Nice quote at the end of that article:

“My father, like Hemingway, was a gun nut and was very unhappy late in life. But he was proud of not committing suicide. And I’ll do the same, so as not to set a bad example for my children.”

But he wasn't unhappy. He was saying this in humorous reflection about his past and family.

Uniquely, this self-deprecating humor didn't fall flat, as it so often does for me.

I'm going to miss this guy.

He had some kind things to say about libraries in his last book, Man Without a Country. He was actually saying something somewhat harsher about America generally. I never read the whole book, so I've put my name down for it at the library.
